Rev. Mark Bosco, S.J., Ph.D., Vice President for Mission and Ministry
In addition to serving as Vice President for Mission and Ministry, Rev. Mark Bosco, S.J., Ph.D. also holds an appointment as a Professorial Lecturer in the Department of English. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Fr. Bosco comes to Georgetown from Loyola University Chicago, where he was a tenured faculty member in both the Department of Theology and the Department of English. He also served as Director of The Joan and Bill Hank Center for the Catholic Intellectual Heritage (CCIH) at Loyola Chicago. Prior to joining the Loyola Chicago University community in 2003, Fr. Bosco taught at the University of San Francisco and the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley. He obtained his Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies in Theology and Literature from the Graduate Theological Union at Berkeley and his M.Div. from the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley.
Mr. Aaron Johnson, Managing Director
Aaron Johnson, M.Div., a 2012 graduate of the McDonough School of Business (MBA), joined the Office of Mission and Ministry in 2007. Mr. Johnson oversees campus ministry activities on the main campus and directs the business functions of the department.
Rev. Jerry Hayes S.J., Director of Ignatian Programs
Fr. Jerry Hayes, S.J., is the Director of Ignatian Programs in the Office of Mission and Ministry. He was missioned to Georgetown University after completing his Tertianship in 2016. After studying Communications and Marketing at the California State University-Sacramento, Fr. Hayes entered the Society of Jesus in 1994. He earned a B.A. in philosophy at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington and went on to teach theology and serve as an assistant campus minister at Loyola High School in Los Angeles. Fr. Hayes continued his theological studies at the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley, receiving an M.Div. in 2007 and was ordained a Catholic priest that same year. Upon ordination, he returned to Loyola High School in Los Angeles to serve as the Director of Campus Ministry. In 2012, Fr. Hayes returned to Sacramento and served the Jesuit High School community as minister to the Jesuit Community and Parochial Vicar of St. Ignatius Parish. Today, Fr. Hayes divides his time on campus providing spiritual direction to the Georgetown community and leading retreats that engage participants in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola.
John Crowley-Buck, Ph.D., Special Assistant to the Vice President for Mission and Ministry
John Crowley-Buck joined the Office of Mission and Ministry in 2018. He earned his Ph.D. in Christain Ethics from the Department of Theology at Loyola University Chicago, and his M.A. in Theological Ethics and B.A. in Theology and English from Boston College. He is co-editor of Democracy, Culture, and Catholicism: Voices from Four Continents (Fordham University Press, 2015) and assisted in editing the online environmental science textbook, Healing Earth. In the Office of Mission and Ministry at Georgetown, John supports the work of the Vice President for Mission and Ministry in advancing the Catholic identity, Ignatian heritage and Jesuit mission of Georgetown University.
Brigid Torres, Ignatian Programs and Retreats Coordinator
Before joining the Office of Mission & Ministry in 2018, Brigid Torres worked at the University of San Francisco (USF) for nine years as an administrator within the College of Arts and Sciences. Through participation in the Spiritual Exercises in Ordinary Time and related programs, she developed a deep adoration for Ignatian Spirituality and began developing mission-driven programs and retreats for staff. Brigid holds a M.P.Aff. from USF and a B.A. in history from Santa Clara University.
