Pope Francis: Fresh Perspectives on Synodality

A previously recorded lecture by Cardinal Donald Wuerl, Archbishop of Washington, DC (September 12, 2017)

Cardinal Donald Wuerl, Archbishop of Washington, reflects on recent synods (authoritative meetings of Bishops to advise the Pope on Church teaching or governance) convoked by Pope Francis concerning the Family (2014 and 2015), and about the upcoming Synod on Youth, Faith and Vocational Discernment (2018.) Cardinal Wuerl draws on his 30+ years as a Bishop during which time he participated in eleven synods. He commends Pope Francis' style of dialogue and collaboration that has brought new vitality to this essential process of Church administration. Cardinal Wuerl was elevated to the College of Cardinals by Pope Benedict XVI in 2010 and participated in the March 2013 conclave that elected Pope Francis.
